Punctuation Style open Punctuation and Standard or Mixed Punctuation

The style of punctuation commonly used in business are given below

Open Punctuation

In open punctuation, no line of any letter part (except the body) has any punctuation at the end unless an abbreviation requires a full stop. Open punctuation is becoming more accepted but is less popular than mixed punctuation.

Standard or Mixed Punctuation

Standard or mixed punctuation uses colon after salutation ( a comma if the letter is social or personal) and the comma after the complimentary close.

Writers in Asia and Great Britain use a comma in place of colon after the salutain.
Although the most popular style in business communication is mixed punctuation, either style of punctuation may be use with block or modified block format.
