Subject: Staff
Grievances.
This report analyses the grievances of the firm’s staff and
presents recommendations for better working conditions
In compliance with your instructions, I visited the firm’s
office in Gulgasth colony and discussed the issue with the manager, the social
welfare officer, and the supervisors. Moreover, I talked to the president of
the worker, welfare association. I also study the office recode of the firm.
My investigations are
given below.
- 1. The member of the staff has not been receiving their bonus for the last two years. That is why their morale is very low. They are not performing their duties satisfactory.
- 2. The staff is not being provided proper medical facilities at the moment. The firm has not hospital in boundary. Most of the members of the staff have to go ot Khawaja Farid Social Security Hospitall, Vehari Road, Multan for their Treatment. Mr. Khurram shazad, a sanitation worker, was seriously injured in a road accident but he was not provided first adi. He was admitted in private hospital where he had to pay Rs. 5000/ for medical expenditures. In addition, Mr. Asad Ashfaq had a heart attack but he was not provided urgent medical treatment.
- 3. The staff is not provided transport facilities at present. Much of the workforce comes from outskirts of Multan. Mr Waqas an administrative officer, is very strict with them. He often takes them to task if they are late even for ten minutes this tense and unpleasant environment has created.
- 4. There is not canteen in the firm. The staff have to travel over half a mile to lunch during the break.
- 5. The firm has recently introduced a golden handshake scheme without the consent of the employees. Five employees have been retired under this scheme.
- 6. Working conditions in the firm are quite unsatisfactory. In addition the environment in the adjoining areas is polluted
In the light of the above
circumstances, I suggest that the firm should take following steps to handle
the staff’s grievances
Suggestions outlines
- 1. A satisfied worker is generally more productive than a dissatisfied one. In order to boost the morale of the staff, bonus should be given to them according to their working capacity. Furthermore, their salary should be increased by ten percent.
- 2. A well furnished hospital should be set up within the firm’s boundary so that the employees can enjoy free medical facilities. If it is not possible at the moment each employee should be given at least Rs. 700 per month as medical allowance.
- 3. Free transport facilities should be provided to the staff, for these purposes, the bus service should be started to carry the workforce from the surrounding areas. A bus should also ply on Sundays to bring the employees family member to the market.
- 4. The firm should have a cafeteria to serve the employees within the office boundary. The food and drink in the cafeteria should be sold at a little or no profit.
- 5. Golden handshake scheme should not be compulsory. The management should make concerted efforts to cancel their decision about golden Handshake scheme.
I believe that the findings will assist you in solving the
problems. If you need further information or clarification of any kind, do not
hesitate to call me at 123456789.
Yours respectfully,
M ali.
