How you explain voice and sound as nonverbal communication

Your Voice and sound quality also put a message for decoder. Nonverbal communication also consider the voice quality and pitch. Your voice quality and the extra sound you make while speaking are also part of nonverbal communication called para language. This term is applied to tone of voice, hesitations or speed of speech and to others sounds you make, such as sighing.

A loud voice often communicates urgency while a soft one is sometimes calming. Speaking fast may suggest nervousness and haste. A lazy articulation, slurring sounds, or skipping over syllables or words, may reduce credibility.

Inflection increases your audience’s comprehension. A lack of pitch variation becomes a monotone and decreases comprehension by more than ten percent. Some people sigh to express tiredness, sadness, and boredom. You should follow these suggestions to develop an effective speaking voice. Speak expressively and enthusiastically instead of in a boring monotone.

§  Speak audibly.
§  Speak with correct rate and the accent.
§  Vary your rate to avoid boring.

Use effective pauses; before or after a key term, separating items in a series.
